Stewart Goodyear’s Guide to the Beethoven Piano Sonatas

This collection captures Stewart Goodyear’s essential insights into performing and interpreting nine of Beethoven’s sonatas for solo piano. These works form a pillar of The RCM Certificate Program and are integral to pianists’ development. Stewart will guide piano teachers through each of the sonatas in a series of short videos, discussing how teachers can use the sonatas to build their students’ competencies across four key areas: interpretation, technique, form and analysis, and knowledge of repertoire.

Welcome to The Royal Conservatory of Music New Teachers' Community

The RCM New Teachers' Community will guide teachers who have little or no experience with The RCM through every step of The RCM Certificate Program, from perusing the Syllabus to helping students complete their first successful examinations. Join Dr. Jonathan Roberts, RCM Ambassador and Examiner along with special guest, Carrie Campbell, RCM Director of Academics & Events. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2026 at 11AM EST, and is an opportunity for you to ask questions and learn more about this initiative and about how The RCM Certificate program can support you and your students. Carrie will speak about our RCM teacher training and professional development opportunities, as well as touching on RCM plans for better engaging with and supporting teachers.
