While singing or humming is a useful step in the process of becoming familiar with the Melody Playback, it is really a step best suited to the preparation stage. Ideally, by the time of the examination students will be able to play the melody back confidently and promptly.  Nonetheless, no marks will be deducted for quietly humming at the Elementary or Intermediate levels.
