Stylistic awareness and good musical taste contribute to appropriate tempo choices. Teacher and student are encouraged to work together to explore a tempo range which seems both stylistically well suited, and within the capabilities of the performer at the time of performance. Examiners are trained to consider and assess a variety of well-considered interpretations.
