Pride plays an important role in every studio—the pride that is rooted in accomplishment and personal worth. The physical and mental aspects of learning music can be frustrating and require patience. Likewise, listening to a teacher’s corrections, not playing in performance the way they played at home, and seeing friends progress faster than they do can be frustrating for any student. But these frustrations can seem like insurmountable issues to students with low self-esteem.
