Transferring Understanding
Andrew Hisey
During lessons, teachers and students spend considerable time and effort working with particular concepts of sound, physical control, and timing, as they apply to a specific piece or passage. Such concepts and their variations can generally be applied to any number of other pieces or musical situations. Taking a skill or focus and applying it in a new context is known as transfer.
