When a Student Arrives Unprepared
Stephen Pierce
All teachers find themselves disappointed from time to time when a student has not adequately prepared for a lesson. When a student arrives completely unprepared, many teachers might be inclined to end the lesson right there and then. In such instances, however, it is important to let the student know that music learning can only be truly effective with regular practice. Inadequate preparation will mean less success, slower progress, uneven results, and a less rewarding lesson for both the teacher and the student.
